The Western States Water Data Access and Analysis Data Tool: Demo and Testing

In the months ahead, the Western States Water Council (WSWC) will release its Western States Water Data Access and Analysis Tool (WestDAAT), a new tool that will streamline water data sharing for western states. The new tool is the latest phase of the Council’s Water Data Exchange (WaDE) program, launched in 2011, which encourages data sharing by creating a data system to streamline access to public water rights and water use data in standardized and machine-readable formats. WestDAAT provides consistent access and filters to query around 1½ million surface water and groundwater rights, serving about 2½ million uses.

The webinar introduced WestDAAT and allowed participants to test it and provide feedback through a digital whiteboard. The webinar concluded with a discussion on how WestDAAT can help federal agencies in the West.

Presenters:
Tony Willardson: WSWC Executive Director, Adel Abdallah, WaDE Program Manager, Ryan James: WaDE Data Analyst / Hydroinformatics Specialist
