  • On June 16, EPA’s Office of Inspector General reported that most FY2022–2023 tribal water infrastructure set-aside funds under the IIJA were not awarded in a timely manner. The report included six recommendations to improve fund allocation and guidance; four are being addressed, while two remain unresolved.
  • On June 12, President Trump issued an executive order to consolidate federal wildfire programs and promote proactive management, citing local mismanagement in the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. • On June 16, President Trump nominated Theodore Cooke, former Central Arizona Project general manager, as Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner. Supporters cited Cooke’s collaborative leadership and experience in Colorado River Basin negotiations as key qualifications for addressing ongoing water allocation challenges.
