HIGHLIGHTS
- The House T&I Committee narrowly approved the PERMIT Act, bundling 13 water-related reform bills aimed at streamlining Clean Water Act permitting
- The D.C. Circuit upheld FERC’s decision that California did not waive its Clean Water Act Section 401 authority during hydro project relicensing. The court found no evidence of improper coordination between the State and the applicant, distinguishing the case from the precedent set in Hoopa Valley Tribe v. FERC.
- A coalition of water funding groups urged Congress to maintain strong FY 2026 funding for SRFs and related water programs, citing the need to address PFAS, cybersecurity, and water reuse.
- Jason Olive of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been appointed the new liaison to the Western States Water Council and WestFAST. With a strong background in interagency conservation efforts, he brings deep experience from both federal and state leadership roles.
