GENERAL DOCUMENTATION AND GUIDELINE INFORMATION
Data Exchange Issues & Recommendations: Workgroup 4 has made recommendations for an approach to the data exchange that meets the needs of the states and supports the needs of the WaDE project.
Western State Water Program Capabilities Assessment Survey Report – Final Draft: This document was developed by Workgroup 2 and is a compilation of survey results submitted by WSWC member states concerning their water planning and data hosting practices.
DATA ELEMENTS AND XML SCHEMA FOR WADE
- Defined List of Data Elements (Data Dictionary) (.pdf) (v0.2): This list of data elements defines what data elements will be exchanged as part of WaDE v0.2.
- Data Exchange Template (Excel) for WaDE Data Schema (v0.2): A descriptive document that provides detailed information for each data element, the order in which the data element falls within the schema, expected formats, and the XML name for each element.
- Data Exchange Template (Excel) for GetCatalog (v0.2): A descriptive document that provides detailed information for each data element in the GetCatalog web service, the order in which the data element falls within the GetCatalog schema, and the XML name for each element.
- Data Exchange Template (Excel) for GetMethod (v0.2): A descriptive document that provides detailed information for each data element in the GetMethod web service, the order in which the data element falls within the GetCatalog schema, and the XML name for each element.
- Current Water Data Exchange XML Schema Definition (XSD) (v.02) (v0.2): An .xsd (schema) file that defines the expected format of this XML data exchange. The schema is the XML representation of the WaDE DET template. (Note: This file requires an XML viewer. XMLpad is available for free download here.)

- WaDE Database – Summary/Aggregated Data – Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) (v0.2) This ERD shows the database schema for summarized/aggregated data that can be shared in WaDE. It omits all of the site-specific/detailed data tables, and various look-up tables for reoccurring data.
- WaDE Database – Detailed/Site-Specific Data – Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) (v0.2). This ERD shows the database schema for detailed/site-specific data that can be shared in WaDE. It omits all of the summary data tables, and various look-up tables for reoccurring data.
- WaDE Database – Both Summary and Site-Specific Data – Entity Relationship Diagram (v0.2). This ERD shows the database schema for both detailed/site-specific data and summarized/aggregated data that can be shared in WaDE. It omits all of the look-up tables for reoccuring data.
WEB SERVICES
- WaDE Flow Configuration Document v0.2 (Draft Only): This document describes the exchange methods and components that a state would need to implement in order to have compatible services and data as part of the data exchange, as well as describes how a user of the data could consume those data services.
- WADE FCD v0.2 Final Draft: This document describes in greater detail and depth the exchange methods and components that a partner would need to implement to maintain compatible services and data as part of the WaDE data exchange, as well as how the users access and consume the data services.
