Project Plan
At the October 2011 WSWC meeting, the WSWC approved of the implementation of the Water Data Exchange (WaDE) Project Plan. This plan outlines activities starting in November 2011 through Aug 2015. Under this project plan, the WSWC, through the coordination of the Water Information and Data Subcommittee, a subcommittee under the WSWC, will coordinate with the WestFAST team to develop a prototype data sharing framework.
The project plan is divided into six key areas:
- Assessment and Initial Design
- State and Federal Outreach
- System Development
- Review and Revise Products and Initial Release
- Coordination with the Department of Energy National Labs
- Coordination with the USGS Colorado River Basin Focus Area Study

These, and associated installation documentation, have been distributed to pilot states. For the states that have requested additional funding, Exchange Network grants have been procured to allow for WaDE installation through 2018.
